An objective type (MCQ) Combined Pre-Medical Entrance Test (HP-CPMET-2012) for admission to MBBS & BDS Courses in
Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges including Private un-aided Dental Colleges (State/Management Quota Seats) in Himachal Pradesh for the
academic session 2012-13 will be held on May 25, 2012(Friday) at Shimla, Mandi, Dharamshala and Hamirpur Examination Centres for
which the applications on the prescribed form from the eligible candidates are invited as available in the prospectus.
LAST DATE: Last date for receipt of application forms complete in all respect either by hand or by Registered/Speed-Post in the office of
the Assistant Registrar(Entrance Tests), H.P. University, Shimla-5, is 30.4.2012 upto 5.00 P.M. whereafter no application shall be
entertained. The NRI candidates shall send their applications complete in all respect direct to the Principal(s) of the concerned college(s)
latest by 31.5.2012.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
1. For State Quota Seats in Govt.Medical/Dental Colleges and Private un- aided Dental Colleges:
a. Children of Bonafide Himachali/Himachal Govt. Employees and Employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially
financed by the Himachal Pradesh Govt. and who have passed atleast two examinations out of four i.e. Middle, Matric, +1 &
+2 or its equivalent from the recognized School(s)/College(s) situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh only are eligible to
apply for this test. The children of Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen/Employees of Central Govt./U.T./Other State Govts.
AND Employees of Autonomous Organisations/Semi-Govt. Bodies of Central Govt./U.T./Other State Govts./Children of
Himachal Govt. Employees/H.P. Govt. Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies wholly owned by the H.P.Govt. who are Bonafide
Himachali and living outside the State of H.P. on account of  their service/posting are also eligible to apply for the test,
however, they are exempted from the condition of passing two examinations from the School(s) situated in the State of H.P.
b. The Bonafide Himachali students who are admitted to Navodaya School(s) situated in Himachal, but passed Matric or +2
examination under the exchange programme from other Navodaya School(s) in the country are also eligible to apply for this
test.
2. For Management Quota Seats( only in Private Un-aided Dental Colleges): Under  this quota, there will be no domicile and  schooling
conditions, both Himachali and non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of  minimum
educational qualifications and age as given.
3. For Children of J&K Migrants: Who possess the minimum educational qualifications and age as given can compete in this test against
the seats reserved for  them.
4. For Children of Tibetan Refugees: Who possess the minimum educational qualifications and age as given and duly sponsored by the
Tibetan Govt. in Exile can compete in this test against the seats reserved for them.
5. For NRI Candidates: Who are residing abroad and have passed the qualifying  examination (10+2 or its equivalent) from abroad and
possess the minimum educational  qualifications and age as given can apply on the prescribed application form available in the prospectus
direct to the Principal(s) of the concerned Medical/Dental College(s). They are not required to take the entrance test.

Eligibility Conditions

However, they are exempted from the condition of passing two examinations from the schools situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh
The Bonafide Himachali students who are admitted to Navodaya Schools situated in Himachal, but passed Matric or 10+2 examination under the exchange programme from other Navodaya Schools in the country are also eligible to apply for this test
Management Quota Seats: Under this quota, there will be no domicile and schooling conditions, both Himachali and non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualifications and age

They are not required to take the entrance test
Age: The candidate should have already completed or should complete the age of 17 years and must not have completed 25 years of age on 31st December, 2012
Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examinations of a University/Board established by law in India with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects which shall include a practical test with 50% marks in aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) provided that the candidate has qualified the subject of English in the above examination; or B.Sc degree with 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) of a university estd by law in India with any three subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physiology, Physics, Human Anatomy and Bio-Chemistry; provided that such a candidate must have passed the Pre-Medical or an equivalent examination of Board/University established by law in India
The candidates who have appeared/appearing in 10+2 or its equivalent examination and the result of the same has not yet been declared can also apply for this test, but the admission will be subject to passing of the said examination with required percentage at the time of Ist round of counseling

Procedure for Prospectus

University Counter: The prescribed application form and detailed information etc, the prospectus can be obtained at the University Exam Enquiry-cum-Sale Counter, Library Building (Basement), Summer Hill, Shimla-5 from 29th March, 2012 to 28th April, 2012 during working days on cash payment of Rs 1500/-for General and other categories, Rs750/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 50 or equivalent in Rupees for NRI candidates
Registered Post: The requests for supply of the prospectus by post can only be addressed to the Assistant Registrar (Entrance Tests) HP University, Summer Hill, Shimla-171005 accompanied by crossed IPOs/Bank draft amounting to Rs 1600/- in case of General and other categories, Rs 850/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 60 or equivalent in Rupees for NRIs, drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla
No request for sending the said prospectus by post will be entertained after 20th April, 2012
While applying for supply of prospectus by post, the candidate must write the Required HP-CPMET-2012 Prospectus and also mention his/her complete mailing address in capital letters along with telephone number
It will be the entire responsibility of the candidates to procure the prospectus well in time and submit the application form complete in all respect within the stipulated date

The Himachal Pradesh University conducts an entrance Test on behalf of H.P. Government in terms of the provisions of paragraph 14.15 of the first Ordinance of the University for admission to various postgraduate courses in I.G.M.C. Shimla. IGMC, Shimla is affiliated to the H.P. University and admissions are made to the courses as recognized/permitted by the Medical Council of India/Himachal Pradesh University strictly in accordance with the conditions laid down by the MCI and the State Government.

  • Examination fee as may be fixed by the University from time to time.
  • Post Graduate students residing in the Hostel shall have to vacate the Hostel after completion of course.(36 months Degree or 24 months Diploma) However, a grace period of 7 days will be given/allowed after the completion of the clinical/Practical examination. In case of candidate fails to vacate the Hostel beyond the prescribed period, he/she shall be liable for penal rent @Rs.100/-per day for one month and rs.300/- per day subsequently

Himachal Pradesh Medical College, Shimla, now known as Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla with its changed name incorporated vide Himachal Pradesh Govt. Notification No. HFW (Cha) 4-3/84, dated 7.11.1984 started functioning in August, 1966 in the old Snowdon Hospital building with 50 admissions. Subsequently, the admission capacity was increased to 65 in the year 1978. Presently, the admission capacity has been increase 65 to 100. The Himachal Pradesh University conducts a Combined Pre-Medical Entrance Test on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh (Department of medical Education & Research) in terms of the provisions of Ordinance 14.1 & 14.B(1) (a) of the First Ordinances of H.P. Examination Pattern for HPCPMT Exam

Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test (HPCPMT) is conducted for admission in various branches of medical and dental sciences, conducted by Himachal Pradesh University. These courses are imparted at the undergraduate degree level. All the affiliated private and government institutes/colleges accept the score of the candidates in the entrance test, which is conducted at various test centers across the state. 
Examination Pattern
To prepare for the Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test, the candidates must have an idea about its examination pattern, which is given below.
  • The question paper comprises of multiple choice type questions. Candidates have to choose one correct option out of given four. 
All the questions consist of three parts:
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology (Botany / Zoology)
  • All the questions and instructions in the question paper are only in English medium.
  • There is no provision of negative marking in the competitive entrance test.

Syllabus for HPCPMT Exam

The aspirants, who are seeking admission in undergraduate programs in the fields of medical and dental sciences of Himachal Pradesh University, have to appear in Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test (HPCPMT). The University conducts the entrance test every year at various cities in Himachal Pradesh. Many private and government institutes/colleges admit students through their marks in the competitive entrance test.
 
Syllabus
To prepare for Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test (HPCPMT), the candidates have to study the syllabus of Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) level comprising of science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry And Biology (Botany / Zoology).
 
Chemistry
Chemical Kinetics, General Principles & process of Isolation of Elements, Aldeydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Organic Compounds containing nitrogen, Hydrocarbons, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Thermodynamics, States of Matter : Gases and Liquids Haloalkanes and haloarenes, d-and f-Block Elements, Chemistry in Everyday Life etc.

    Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla is commonly known as IG Medical College or IGMC Shimla. The college is one of the premier institutions, imparting medical education since 1966. It was initially named as Himachal Pradesh Medical College (HPMC) and was renamed in the year 1984.     Himachali and living outside the State of H.P. on account of  their service/posting are also eligible to apply for the test,
    however, they are exempted from the condition of passing two examinations from the School(s) situated in the State of H.P.
    b. The Bonafide Himachali students who are admitted to Navodaya School(s) situated in Himachal, but passed Matric or +2
    examination under the exchange programme from other Navodaya School(s) in the country are also eligible to apply for this

    2. For Management Quota Seats( only in Private Un-aided Dental Colleges): Under  this quota, there will be no domicile and  schooling

    Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examinations of a University/Board established by law in India with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects which shall include a practical test with 50% marks in aggregate (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) provided that the candidate has qualified the subject of English in the above examination; or B.Sc degree with 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) of a university estd by law in India with any three subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physiology, Physics, Human Anatomy and Bio-Chemistry; provided that such a candidate must have passed the Pre-Medical or an equivalent examination of Board/University established by law in India
    The candidates who have appeared/appearing in 10+2 or its equivalent examination and the result of the same has not yet been declared can also apply for this test, but the admission will be subject to passing of the said examination with required percentage at the time of Ist round of counseling

    University Counter: The prescribed application form and detailed information etc, the prospectus can be obtained at the University Exam Enquiry-cum-Sale Counter, Library Building (Basement), Summer Hill, Shimla-5 from 29th March, 2012 to 28th April, 2012 during working days on cash payment of Rs 1500/-for General and other categories, Rs750/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 50 or equivalent in Rupees for NRI candidates
    Registered Post: The requests for supply of the prospectus by post can only be addressed to the Assistant Registrar (Entrance Tests) HP University, Summer Hill, Shimla-171005 accompanied by crossed IPOs/Bank draft amounting to Rs 1600/- in case of General and other categories, Rs 850/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 60 or equivalent in Rupees for NRIs, drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla
    No request for sending the said prospectus by post will be entertained after 20th April, 2012
    While applying for supply of prospectus by post, the candidate must write the Required HP-CPMET-2012 Prospectus and also mention his/her complete mailing address in capital letters along with telephone number

    academic session 2012-13 will be held on May 25, 2012(Friday) at Shimla, Mandi, Dharamshala and Hamirpur Examination Centres for
    which the applications on the prescribed form from the eligible candidates are invited as available in the prospectus.
    LAST DATE: Last date for receipt of application forms complete in all respect either by hand or by Registered/Speed-Post in the office of
    the Assistant Registrar(Entrance Tests), H.P. University, Shimla-5, is 30.4.2012 upto 5.00 P.M. whereafter no application shall be
    entertained. The NRI candidates shall send their applications complete in all respect direct to the Principal(s) of the concerned college(s)
    latest by 31.5.2012.
    ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
    1. For State Quota Seats in Govt.Medical/Dental Colleges and Private un- aided Dental Colleges:
    a. Children of Bonafide Himachali/Himachal Govt. Employees and Employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially
    financed by the Himachal Pradesh Govt. and who have passed atleast two examinations out of four i.e. Middle, Matric, +1 &
    +2 or its equivalent from the recognized School(s)/College(s) situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh only are eligible to
    apply for this test. The children of Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen/Employees of Central Govt./U.T./Other State Govts.
    AND Employees of Autonomous Organisations/Semi-Govt. Bodies of Central Govt./U.T./Other State Govts./Children of
    Himachal Govt. Employees/H.P. Govt. Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies wholly owned by the H.P.Govt. who are Bonafide
    Himachali and living outside the State of H.P. on account of their service/posting are also eligible to apply for the test,
    however, they are exempted from the condition of passing two examinations from the School(s) situated in the State of H.P.
    b. The Bonafide Himachali students who are admitted to Navodaya School(s) situated in Himachal, but passed Matric or +2
    examination under the exchange programme from other Navodaya School(s) in the country are also eligible to apply for this
    test.
    2. For Management Quota Seats( only in Private Un-aided Dental Colleges): Under this quota, there will be no domicile and schooling
    conditions, both Himachali and non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum
    educational qualifications and age as given.
    3. For Children of J&K Migrants: Who possess the minimum educational qualifications and age as given can compete in this test against
    the seats reserved for them.
    4. For Children of Tibetan Refugees: Who possess the minimum educational qualifications and age as given and duly sponsored by the
    Tibetan Govt. in Exile can compete in this test against the seats reserved for them.
    5. For NRI Candidates: Who are residing abroad and have passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) from abroad and
    possess the minimum educational qualifications and age as given can apply on the prescribed application form available in the prospectus
    direct to the Principal(s) of the concerned Medical/Dental College(s). They are not required to take the entrance test.
    AGE & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    (i) Age: The candidate should have already completed or should complete the age of 17 years and must not have completed 25 years of age
    on 31st December, 2012.
    (ii) Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examinations of a University/Board established
    by law in India with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects which shall include a practical test with 50% marks in aggregate (40% marks
    for SC/ST/OBC) provided that the candidate has qualified the subject of English in the above examination Or B.Sc. Degree with 50%
    marks(40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) of a University established by law in India with any three subjects out of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry,
    Physiology, Physics, Human Anatomy and Bio-Chemistry; provided that such a candidate must have passed the Pre-Medical or an
    equivalent examination of Board/University established by law in India.
    Note: The candidates who have appeared/appearing in 10+2 or its equivalent examination and the result of the same has not yet been
    declared can also apply for this test, but the admission will be subject to passing of the said examination with required
    percentage at the time of Ist round of counseling.
    PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING THE PROSPECTUS;
    1. At University Counter: The prescribed application form and detailed information etc., the prospectus can be obtained at the
    University Exam Enquiry-cum-Sale Counter, Library Building (Basement), Summer Hill, Shimla-5 from 29.3.2012 to 28.4.2012
    during working days on cash payment of Rs.1500/-for General & other categories, Rs.750/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 50 or
    equivalent in Rupees for NRI candidates.
    2. By Registered Post: The requests for supply of the prospectus by post can only be addressed to the Assistant Registrar (Entrance
    Tests) H.P.University, Summer Hill, Shimla-171005 accompanied by crossed IPOs/Bank Draft amounting to Rs.1600/- in case of
    General & other categories, Rs.850/- for SC/ST categories and US Dollars 60 or equivalent in Rupees for NRIs, drawn in favour of
    the Finance Officer, H.P. University, Shimla. No request forsending the said prospectus by post will be entertained after
    20.4.2012. While applying for supply of prospectus by post, the candidate must write the “Required HP-CPMET-2012 Prospectus ”
    and also mention his/her complete mailing address in capital letters along with telephone number.
    Note: It will be the entire responsibility of the candidate(s) to procure the prospectus well in time and submit the application form complete
    in all respect within the stipulated date. The University will not be responsible for any postal delay for non-receipt or in case of
    misplacement of prospectus in transit. All disputes are subject to legal jurisdiction of courts in Shimla only.

    Examination Pattern for HPCPMT Exam

    Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test (HPCPMT) is conducted for admission in various branches of medical and dental sciences, conducted by Himachal Pradesh University. These courses are imparted at the undergraduate degree level. All the affiliated private and government institutes/colleges accept the score of the candidates in the entrance test, which is conducted at various test centers across the state. 
    Examination Pattern
    To prepare for the Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Entrance Test, the candidates must have an idea about its examination pattern, which is given below.
    • The question paper comprises of multiple choice type questions. Candidates have to choose one correct option out of given four. 
    All the questions consist of three parts:
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Biology (Botany / Zoology)
    • All the questions and instructions in the question paper are only in English medium.
    • There is no provision of negative marking in the competitive entrance test.
